However, it is important to differentiate between conditions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Testicular cancers are typically <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/health\/conditions-and-diseases\/testicular-cancer\/types-of-testicular-cancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">categorized<\/a> as either:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Seminomas<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A seminoma is a slow-growing cancer that begins in germ cells and is most often identified in middle-aged men. Here, \u201cgerm cell\u201d does not refer to any external virus or bacteria but the type of cell that helps form sperm. Although seminomas start in the testes, they could spread to nearby lymph nodes and adversely affect other parts of the body.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Non-Seminomas<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Non-Seminomas refer to a comparatively rapid-growing cancer that can be further subdivided into four types. Just like seminomas, non-seminomas are often caused by germ cell mutations. However, non-seminomas are significantly more likely to affect younger men.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is little\u2014if any\u2014evidence to suggest that asbestos exposure directly causes either type of testicular cancer. However, some researchers believe that <a href=\"https:\/\/dceg.cancer.gov\/research\/what-we-study\/pfas#testicular-cancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">other toxic substances<\/a>, including PFAS, could cause or contribute to testicular cancer. Compared to other types of cancer, testicular cancer is rare.
