In fact the remarkable qualities of asbestos minerals led to its being called the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asbestosclaims.law\/asbestos-blog\/asbestos-the-miracle-mineral\/\">miracle mineral<\/a>.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But unfortunately, the durability of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asbestosclaims.law\/asbestos-learning-center\/medical-history-of-asbestos\">asbestos<\/a> makes it extremely dangerous when inhaled or swallowed. Specifically, asbestos is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asbestosclaims.law\/asbestos-learning-center\/medical-history-of-asbestos\">made of tiny fibers<\/a>, and when it crumbles or goes airborne, it is easily inhaled. Over time, asbestos fibers build up inside the lungs or digestive system, causing an aggressive immune response. Unfortunately, the body cannot easily eradicate asbestos; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asbestosclaims.law\/asbestos-symptoms-and-treatment\/asbestos-injuries\">the fibers can cause scarring, inflammation, and cancerous growths<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Asbestos Exposure Can Cause a Variety of Illnesses, Including Cancer<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/asbestosdefinition.com\/\">Asbestos<\/a> is responsible for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpwlaw-mi.com\/could-asbestos-be-the-cause-of-my-disease-asbestos-exposure-cancer-in-2019\/\">range of medical disorders and diseases<\/a>, including but not limited to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pleural plaques<\/li><li>Pleural effusions<\/li><li>Asbestosis&nbsp;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.todayinlaw.com\/search\/mesothelioma\">Mesothelioma<\/a><\/li><li>Lung cancer&nbsp;<\/li><li>Ovarian cancer&nbsp;<\/li><li>Laryngeal cancer&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Emerging evidence suggests that asbestos exposure could also cause or contribute to urinary bladder cancer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns background_pampas is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column p-4 mx-3 is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-asbestos-exposure-and-urinary-bladder-cancer\">Asbestos Exposure and Urinary Bladder Cancer<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>Asbestos exposure has been positively correlated to genital cancers, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC7039423\/\">prostate cancer<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, scientists have undertaken only limited research on the associations between asbestos exposure and bladder cancer. Only a scarce handful of studies, most published between the 1980s and 1990s, have investigated the possibility of any causative effect. Of these studies, few identified either occupational or environmental asbestos exposure as a plausible risk factor for bladder cancer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ongoing Research Into the Connection Between Asbestos Exposure and Bladder Cancer<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless, there is some compelling evidence linking asbestos exposure and bladder cancer. In the January 1996 edition of <em>Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers &amp; Prevention<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/8770464\/\">, Kannio et al determined that<\/a>:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Asbestos exposure could be an independent risk factor for bladder cancer<\/strong>, with analyses indicating that persons with a \u201cdefinite\u201d history of asbestos exposure have an almost 3-fold increase in risk for bladder cancer compared to persons with no known history of asbestos exposure.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Asbestos exposure could increase the probability of developing bladder cancer in persons with other risk factors<\/strong>, including cigarette smoking and other tobacco use.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>The prevalence of bladder cancer-causing mutations is highest in smokers<\/strong>. Consequently, bladder cancer is usually identified in its early stages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What To Look For If You\u2019re Concerned About Bladder Cancer<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/bladder-cancer\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20356104\">symptoms of bladder cancer<\/a> include but are not limited to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Blood or blood clots in the urine, which may cause the urine to appear bright red or \u201cCoca-Cola colored.\u201d However, blood in the urine is not always visible and may, in some cases, only be detected by laboratory testing.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Frequent urination.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Painful urination.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Feeling the need to urinate, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.net\/cancer-types\/bladder-cancer\/symptoms-and-signs\">being unable to pass urine<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Lower back pain, especially on one side of the body.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Bladder cancer is usually detected when a patient informs their doctor that they have noticed blood in their urine.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bladder Cancer Treatment Types<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bladder cancer is treated similar to other types of cancer, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/bladder-cancer\/diagnosis-treatment\/drc-20356109\">treatment options<\/a> including:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul treatment option and can destroy cancer cells with high-powered X-ray beams.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Immunotherapy<\/strong>, which sends special signals to the immune system to begin attacking
